As time goes by, and as we research for more information, we find out that there are many things that people or even our teachers do not tell us that more than one person or two were involved in important projects. Also, it is important to mention that winners, and men, are the writters of our history, and they decide what they teach kids. In this case , it is important to mention that they decide who is important for us.
Nowadays, women become as important as men, and their actions become more important to show and to prove society that many people, not just men. In this case, it is important to accept that Grace Hopper made a change in computer science and in our history. I consider that some actions that she lived were not something that she liked or that she approved, such as the atomic bomb.
I consider that men and women had special roles in their lives, and when world war 2 started, these roles changes. Women had to take men roles and to start to be an important member of the society, not just someone who stays at home and that is mother, but someone who works to make this planet a better place. Obviously there were many women who were not part of this stereotype,and they went to school,and become a more important role in this moment. That was the case of Grace Hopper, who wa a mathematician and at some point she became one of the most important people in the navy and in computer science. She was not a normal woman, she got divorced and she didnt want kids, but her "kid", COBOL and UNIVAC.
I consider that she was someone who really make a change in their life,and in the way people see women.In this case, women ere really important in computer science and that nowadays we do not think that women can be in this area,even thought that we created some important elements of this.We should teach childen not the bad things,but the good things people created and their impact in nowadays life. I consider that girls should be encourage to be part of STEAM, due to the fact that we got some new ideas and perspectives that might be the change, such as Grace Hopper was.
